QSA Global, Inc. possesses broad-scope licenses in both our Baton Rouge, LA, and Burlington, MA facilities, which allows us to safely handle and store a large quantity and variety of radioactive isotopes that were manufactured or distributed from the USA.

With over 60 years of historical disposal knowledge working with various manufacturers and gauge models worldwide, we can easily identify and verify unknown devices and sources. Specifically, we have a comprehensive database of source manufacture dates, SSDRs, source certificates, and serial numbers to identify what radioactive source is inside your gauges and provide the special form certifications required to transport your sources and gauges legally. QSA Global, Inc. has a global network of export specialists that provide transport expertise when you are facing challenging logistical issues.

Our D.O.T. approved containers are available for rent to help you send your devices to us quickly and easily and we arrange clearance at US destination ports to help prevent transport delays.

QSA Global, Inc. works with licensed brokers around the world to provide on-site packaging and dismantling of your gauges and devices as needed.

Once QSA Global, Inc. receives your gauges, devices, or sealed sources, we provide you with a transfer of ownership letter.

The transfer of ownership letter transfers ownership and liability of your sealed sources to QSA Global, Inc.

  • Do you accept sources manufactured outside of the United States?

    Due to USNRC regulations, we can only accept sources manufactured or distributed from the US, or currently located in the US, unless QSA Global, Inc. manufactured them.

    We have sold isotope sources from outside of the US under previous names, including Tech Ops. Amersham International, and AEA Technology, Inc.  If you are unsure of our ability to accept a source, always feel free to ask.

  • Can QSA Global, Inc. accept my specific device for disposition?

  • What if I do not know the manufacturer?

    In many cases, we can identify the source manufacturer based on the serial number. Pictures and/or drawings are always encouraged to help identify or verify unknown devices and sources.

  • What information do I need to provide to proceed with disposition?

    After completing our Source Return Approval Request Document and authorization from QSA Global, Inc. for the source return, we will also need a current leak test on the source/device that is less than 6 months old. Upon receipt of these documents and verification of payment terms, we will issue a Return Authorization Number for acceptance, which will need to be marked on the package.

  • Do you have access to Special Form Certificates?

    QSA Global, Inc. has special form certificates available for all currently active QSA Global, Inc. manufactured source models. We also have a database containing many other manufacturer’s special form certificates, which we can use to help locate the correct certificate if possible.

  • When is a Special Form Certificate needed?

    The United States Regulatory Commission designates special Form requirements in 10 CFR Part 71, Appendix A, which can be found here:

    Any source with an activity greater than the designated Type A2 (Non-Special Form) values must ship as a Type A1 (Special Form) with a special form certificate.

  • What is disposition pricing based on?

    In general, pricing is established based on isotope and activity. Higher activity sources are more expensive to dispose of, and certain isotopes are priced differently based on the ultimate method of disposition by QSA Global, Inc. Labor for unloading the devices is included in the disposal price, except in occasional circumstances where a specific model device is more labor-intensive to unload.

  • Do you provide Type A containers for rental?

    QSA Global, Inc. offers a container rental service that can be used for various sealed radioactive sources, including source capsules by themselves or sources loaded into devices.

  • What if I need the devices removed and shipped from my facility?

    We work with licensed brokers worldwide to provide logistics assistance and on-site packaging and dismantling of devices. Let us know if you will need this service, and we will work with you on the scope of work and scheduling of the service.

  • What happens once QSA Global, Inc. receives my source/device?

    Upon receipt of your sealed radioactive sources and devices, we will issue a Receival Letter, which will state the transfer of ownership of your sealed sources to our license.
