QSA Global Inc.

The QSA SOURCES business provides purpose designed radiation sources across a range of industries and markets. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) typically use the QSA product as the "heart" component in nucleonic devices that utilize the properties of these sealed, radioactive materials. Often these are within detection and analytical instrumentation devices ranging from Oil Well Logging devices to security devices to smoke detectors.

QSA personnel have the knowledge and capability to identify the most appropriate product for a particular application and make suggestions for their most effective use.

A range of standard sources exist which meet common applications. Special requirements can be met to order in many cases.

QSA is highly experienced in the legislation and regulation covering the transport, use and disposal of sealed radioactive sources. Appropriate licenses are created and maintained for the product range, and manufacturing is to exacting standards to provide appropriate Quality Assurance. Distribution by approved and licensed containers ensures compliance with international transport regulations.

Process Control

Devices, using non-invasive measurement (gauging) techniques of:

Level detection - static storage or packaging (canning) lines
Area weight or density measurements of conveyor belts such as quality control of size for mass-produced, packed items e.g. cigarettes
Thickness measurements of a huge variety of materials produced continuously ranging from Saran Wrap plastic sheet to steel strip in hot steel mills, and paper to coatings on substrates.

Analytical Instrumentation

Covers a very diverse range of industrial and research techniques including:

Materials studies involving positron annihilation
Oil Well Logging (OWL) for geological formation evaluation in mineral and oil/gas prospecting
Metal, alloy and environmental sample analysis utilizing X-Ray Fluorescence
Gas chromatography and security applications such as explosives and chemical agent detection via Electron Capture Devices
Quality control and assurance in road construction
Bulk materials analysis from prompt neutron gamma activation
Portable security devices for use by customs agencies for contraband detection via gamma backscatter.

Smoke Detection and Security Systems

Ranging from "source in holder" component supply to holder combinations and complete ion detection chambers.

Reactor Neutron

Encompassing both non-radioactive Sb/Be "stacks" or pellet assemblies supplied to commercial nuclear fuel fabricators. Also, high energy Cf-252 sources used in start-up and neutron instrumentation quality control in commercial reactors.
